Orlando Main Street district Curry Ford West has selected Sarah Shoulak, the current Creative Director, local resident, and small business owner as its next Executive Director. Shoulak will succeed Danielle Clark, who will still play an active leadership role in the organization as Board Treasurer and Organizational Committee Chair.
Shoulak first got involved with the Curry Ford West district —an accredited Orlando Main Street focused on community & economic improvements through events, initiatives, and outreach—in 2021 when she inquired about creative opportunities for local artists to beautify the area.
“I am so super excited about this new chapter of Curry Ford West under Sarah’s direction. She has tenacity, business savvy, and a sense of humor that resonates with the district’s culture,” Clark said. “Since I’m transitioning into these pivotal board roles vs. leaving the organization, I have the ability to support her and the community so they won’t feel anything except growth.”
Prior to joining the CFW, Shoulak freelanced with a number of her personal brands including Relatively Speaking—where she conducts training sessions and professional coaching for clients around the country alongside her mother with 30+ years of corporate experience— and Kateri Art and Design, LLC—DBA KALUOHS—which allows her to flex her creative muscles through unique painting commissions. Examples of her mural work can be seen inside of The HAIR Co Shop, Designzillas’ HQ, and soon one of the electrical boxes in The Milk District. She was formerly an Account Manager at Designzillas, LLC in downtown Orlando and spent several years teaching Communication at Valencia College and FIU in Miami. She is also a board member of the Women’s Executive Council which is celebrating their 50th year of supporting the Central Florida area.
“I appreciate the district’s confidence in me, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to make a difference in the community I already love so much. Curry Ford West is a resilient and diverse district with passionate people who I’m excited to serve,” Shoulak said. “I’m especially grateful to Danielle for her guidance as she welcomes me into this position. The district is unified today because of her tireless work during her tenure.”
As Executive Director, Shoulak will work closely with the Orlando Main Street team and the Curry Ford West board to ensure the organization can continue to adapt to serve the business owners and residents in our community. One of her first acts as director will be to oversee Curry Ford West’s upcoming second annual Picture Perfect Holidays event on December 4th that won them an Outstanding Event Award from the Secretary of the State of Florida at the 2021 Florida Main Street Awards last year. She will also oversee the continued expansion of Curry Ford West’s membership program and other community initiatives.
